Unlike Gene Pope who used a spaced pair of B&K/DPA omnis, I believe Chesky Records specializes in Blumlein-technique recordings. They also have quite a few jazz releases. (Blumlein: a coincident pair of figure-8 mics angled at 90-degrees with respect to each other.) If you want imaging, the Blumlein technique delivers. On the downside, I find it produces a little too MUCH image specificity and rolls the bass off somewhat... but I'm nitpicking.For classical, also check out Water Lily Acoustics whose enigneer, Kavi Alexander, uses the Blumlein technique extensively.
