Rob,If you can call Mozart's (and Haydn of all people !) music muzak, can I call your ideas about music a bit outdated and, erm, nonsense ? ;-)
Come on, stop steeping this board into dark romantic Germanic thinking, you sound just like vintage Wackenroder and E.T.A. Hoffmann, all this tortured artist's soul finding its outlet into his art is really a bit oldfashioned. Really, all your ideas are pure 19th century romantic thinking from a bunch of German writers and philosophers, not one of them was a decent musician or actually understood music, maybe it's time to move on ? Music appreciation and evaluation have progressed a bit beyond believing minor chords and the odd dissonance are all about grief and sorrow and the only good music is "emotional" music (whatever that might be), and nope, I won't give you a lecture about what I mean with this progression, bought too many excellent CD's lately. :-) Anyway, Bach still triggers more "emotions" in me as Wagner, Mahler and Shos put together. ;-) You already found time for Tormis ?
