I just noticed the Beethoven collection by Goode on CDNow a couple of days ago. Not too unreasonable price for the set (under $100 for probably 10 CDs).How is the Inbal third (as if I have to ask)? Actually, don't answer, since my next third will be Lopez-Cobos on Telarc. But how is Inbal's sixth? I'm not happy with any of my sixths, so that will probably be my next Mahler acquisition. Also, I got a new score of M1&2 from Santa, so I could use a fresh recording of these someday, as well.
BTW, I kind of enjoy the Haitink DLvdE. Although James King sounds like he swallowed the mic, Der Abscheid gets the very intimate treatment that it deserves. Closest thing to chamber music Mahler ever produced (except for that silly student work of doubtful authenticity).
