Hi FrediI'm a classical newbie too and I know what you mean. I attended my first classical performance a couple of months ago and it was revelatory. I had never been able to associate certain sounds of an orchestra with the actual instruments and the movements required to play them until I saw it live. Seeing all those bows moving synchronously, seeing them stop and give way to brass or the soloist was a link I needed to appreciate the sounds I heard from my home system. There's another post somewhere on the board about the importance of "sight" when discovering classical music - it may be the most important thing one can do when approaching classical for the first time, as well as down the road. Enjoy.
