Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Audiophiles on this site are generally meticulous about every aspect of their sound reproduction systems, both hardware and software. This may be truer of the regulars on GA than here, but only incrementally so. And yet many of you love finding used albums for $1. I think it's a safe bet that most used LPs were played on cheap record players with heavy tone arms and crude stylii. So how can these records not sound like crap compared to a clean recording, even a digital one? P.S. I'm not biased -- I grew up on LPs and have hundreds of them, though no longer have a TT. I'm certain that most of them are unlistenable after years of play.
