......after reading a recent 2 volume bio of dear Otto (Peter Haywerth?)he was certifiable for most of his life after brain surgery in 1939. The operation only made his manic/depression swings worse. He was jailed a number of times......took to going out at night alone in every big city in the known world and drinking up a storm and chasing the ladies.....married or not. Somehow he found the time to study musical scores for 48-72 hours straight. What an incredible human being. One honorable mention for your next list........for Shoshtakovich and Tchaikovsky.......no one beats Evgeny Mravinsky!
Regard's, Tom B.
