Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

Bruckner, condescension, and the death of a genre

206.19.116.10

I will cheerfully admit that I am as ignorant as a barn door, and truely made an ass of myself. Unfortunately, my historical knowledge of Bruckner was given to me by a music professor in college years ago, and was reinforced by obviously flawed examples later. I stand corrected.

I also am awed by your vast wealth of knowledge.

This does not, however, in any way excuse your concescending attitude toward those less knowledgable than yourself. You may only be "using McDonald as an example", but your brow-beating and comtempt for those of lesser stature comes through loud and clear.

Ironic, as the topic was Bruckner.

SPL, have you been feeling lonely and lost these days at Orchestra Hall? No, it's not due to the larger lobbies. There are a lot less people there. I'm one of those people.

If you really wish to explore the mind of the lesser listener and why the genre is dying, look in the mirror. We may love the music, but we're tired of the crap.

If Beans cause you such discomfort, SPL, perhaps you shouldn't indulge yourself. But, I'm afraid that as long as your attitude remains as it is, the peculiar odor of your Arrogance will still permeate the Court.
