To be honest, I like Jochum with the Berliners much better than the Tennstedt. The latter is rushing through the score and the finale is not finalish enough to my idea. It's all a bit too forward, too attacking and too fast. I agree Haitink sucks, for the obvious reasons. The man should have made all of his recordings live instead of 'studio', they can have some warmth and passion then. Even his live performance last year November with the Concertgebouw was plainly bad, as was Perahia in Beethoven's 4th pianoconcerto and I payed $40 for that concert.I did not hear the Furtwangler yet, but Celibidache to me is the best recording available: majestic and misterioso, architectural and monumental, but also intimate.
