Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

Uh-oh, I've been accused of blaspheming Bruckner....

.... is there any worse crime here at the Court? (Let's leave Britney out of this...)

I'll agree, he was very ill physically at the time. And I've always wondered what he would have given us in a 4th movement.

But, "blasphemy"? I think you mis-understand me. I'm not trying to take ANYTHING away from the man or his accomplishments. He's my favorite composer. My personal take on his #9 is that of a very tortured individual, even more evident than in his earlier works. I'm sure the physical added to it.

No, my view is that all of his insecurities and "debatable" mental illness gave him a very different perspctive on reality. I think his "counting illness" was a clear manifestation. That perspective gave us wonderful music.

Or, was the "blasphemy" a reference to my listening to the Chicago Band ;-)

Kevin McDonald
