Epic LC 3420, Concertgebouw Orch, Van Beinum cond."For Violin and Orchestra"
This recording is so fine that I can't imagine that it didn't sell well when it was released. Heck - I found it. I'm guessing that it's from the late 50's. In my system the sound is rich and dynamic, and the violin artistry of Arthur Grumiaux is superb. I get the impression that he had some free license on this one, but really don't know. Anyway, the extended violin solos are riviting and it's a real collectors item for anyone into good violin solos and Beethoven concertos in general. The violinist is really allowed to show off some pyrotechnics on this one.
