Classical Court From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here. |

After a long absence, I stopped in at the local cd shop and browsed through the used racks. I picked up a copy of Dame Janet Baker doing Mahler's Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen/Kindertotenlieder/Ruckert Lieder with Barbirolli on EMI. I checked the old copy of the Penguin Guide at the counter and it seemed to get a good reveiw, or at least a bit better than the others listed. I then checked Amazon.com and saw what appeared to be the same recording released on EMI Classics as part of their Greatest Recordings of the Century. Is there a major difference? I suppose some remastering was done, but is it all that much better? I have not had a chance to listen to it yet, too many hockey, basketball, and baseball games on.I could not find much in the archives about this recording/performance. What is the verdict of the Classical Court's jury on this one? Am I guilty of picking a loser?
