From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

So I suppose your objection to Furtie is mainly against his Wagner and not so much against Beethoven? That's good to hear. If you thought his LVB 5th is to be avoided, then I would avoid Zander like a plague :)

I haven't listened to Furtie's Wagner and I'm not really into Wagner. But I have his LVB 5th and, faithful to LVB or not, methinks it is fantastic music and that's what matters to me. I'm open to different interpretations so I'll try Zander when I have a chance.

Furtwangler's sense of tempo can be dramatic. I had a musician friend who thought that the 3rd movement of LVB 9th by Furtie ('51 Bayreuth) is ridiculously slow. But I always thought that the lyrical legato is without peers. I tried other 9th, but nothing had the singing quality in the 3rd movement and they were boring in consequence.
