my first stereo was a 1966 GE trimline 300 "portable", purchased at age 13 with my summer's berry picking money for $66.oo. It's appearance was nearly identical to your fold-away suitcase, save for it having one of those ubiquitous BSR changers and a dark brown leatherette covering.

my first component system consisted of a Kenwood KR3300 receiver, Pioneer PL15 turntable & Cerwin Vega 2 ways(R24?}somewhere around 1972.IIRC, Cerwin Vega's motto was "loud is beautiful, if it's clean"- mine were played loud, not so much clean however.

the first system that I'd assembled that had even the remotest whiff of audiophile-cred was a few years later(74?) and consisted of a Yamaha CA800 integrated, matching CT600 tuner, Luxman PD121 turntable w/Grace 707/ Ortofon MC10 cart and the obligatory JBL Century L100a's and later AR10pi
