Just for grins, look at this MS Article. If you do a search on your drive where Windows is installed, what's the date on the file, URLMON.DLL?I'd still be curious if you have the problem after installing IE 6 SP1 which you can do by clicking here.
With AT&T being common here, it could be that they are compressing files that are already compressed or doing something strange on their end. But, we still need to rule out any browser issues.
