Hi John, the 2 I have adored are the linn soundek 12 and the krell kps28c. I own the 28c. Both of these take me to "that place." Unfortunately I can't afford the soundek 12, but a pal of mine who has too much money has allowed me to have his for almost 2 weeks now, I'm not giving it back till he insits. I'll also say this, the soundek 12 has a much jucier midrange than the 28c, but both are just pure fun. I'll also add, that about a month ago I had the 25c in my system and my friend Eric (who owns the linn) & my wife compared as well. I had the 28c and the kct preamp compared with the 25c (which is a cdplayer/preamp combo and was well broken in- 6 months), keeping everything else the same and both of us agreed the sound was much nicer out of the less expensive kct/28c combo. No brittle highs, just pure sweet fun. Although, I might add that my dealer (who also at the time agreed with my assesment) has since informed me that I did not have a 28c with the new updated dac's which of course should make a world of difference. Bottom line, for the first time I am able to sit and REALLY enjoy. Although, I have decided to order a pair of the shunyata mamba's to see what they can do too.
