The Sony player is Toslink out I'm guessing going to a coax out on the Planet may help plus you may want to try the planet with it's own Dac. I'm thinking it will be better but it's far from state of the art. I'm using a Rotel 975 into a Muse 2 Dac, I used a PS Audio Lambda transport originally, now that was a night and day difference. My computer based system into a Scott Nixon Tube Dac certainly rivals the sound of the Rotel/Muse combo.
