Theta Data Basic II - Tray Mechanism Judder - Fixed

I thought I'd share this solution on the off-chance someone else experiences the same problem.

The tray open/close process is driven by a separate motor from the disk mechanism. The drive is transferred from the motor pulley to a separate plastic pulley/pinion (toothed gear section sharing a common axis with the pulley).

The pinion engages with a toothed rack on the tray and the rotation of the pulley/pinion opens and closes the tray.

After a time the plastic teeth of the pinion break off, resulting the "juddery" movement of the tray.

One our local importers carries a stock of these pulley/pinion replacements and came round to the house this evening and replaced the faulty pulley/pinion for the princely sum of R300.00 (~$40.00) including the call-out.

So, all is hunky-dory once more and I am a happy camper again.. :-)
