Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

haven't heard the Pioneer cheapies but 563, 578 and 588 are recommended.

I have an old Elite DV 47Ai, very very reliable, great transports per those here on the forums and the cheap Pioneers have the same mechanism per Alex Peychev. Mine sounds very good on rbcd, a bit bright but detail is excellent and not glaring. SACD supposedly is only marginally better but RCA's and Mercs sound pretty impressive to my ears.

I've seen an occasional DV 38 and 45 under $400 or even $300 or less.

Sony anyone? 595 sacd?
