Jitter reduction in DACs has gotten better over time, but I think many can still benefit from a good jitter-box. I've owned the Genesis and the Camelot and have heard the Sonic Frontiers in my system. They're all good and provide a cost-effective upgrade. I'm partial to the Genesis. Rather than a simple PLL reclock, it stores in RAM before sending the signal to the DAC. In theory, almost no jitter gets through. You can find out more in the review available at stereophile.com.I had hoped to simplify my system last year (and save some money by eliminating the Lens and its PC and dig cable). This was with a heavily modified transport. I took the Lens out for a while and got used to the sound. Then I put it back in. It stayed put.
My next experiment is to see if using a hard-drive-based transport will allow me to ditch the Lens. Will know more in another month.
