What is the "Extended Audio Disc"?

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

And played on a DVD player, will it output a 24 bit 48kHz digital signal to my DAC? Thinking of the Rattle, Mahler 8th Symphony, for ex.
