Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

I have compared them ....

and this was about 10 years ago or so SFT-1/SFD-2 combo was an excellent digital front end at that time of which I thought they sounded a little lush than the Krell KPS 20 with the Krell being visceral and dynamically apt in the overall presentation.

However, when I listen to the SFCD-1 I heard something that the SFT-1/SFD-2 combo couldn’t do which was the holographic presentation part of the reproduction of the music it was so pronounce and eerie to the point that the Manhattan Transfer sounds like they were in the room with me. In addition, I find the over all presentation of SFCD-1 was much more neutral than SFT-1/SFD-2 combo does, which was lush sounding to my ears IMHO.

To me they both sounded excellent it’s just a matter of ones taste and my taste leans towards the SFCD-1 over all presentation however, having said that I can live with either one of them.

Of course, this is just my observation.
