Can't speak for about the Benchmark but I love the sound of my VDA-2 with VAC-1 (the two are connected by a Revelation Audio Labs Parable Cryo-Silver Reference Power Cord). Quite analog sounding. It certainly doesn't sound "impressive" when you first start to use it. But that's a good thing. It does not draw attention to itself. It sounded a little closed in/bland the first day or so but has opened up and sounds very nonfatiguing.Keep in mind, my previous cd player was rather mundane, an Arcam CD72T. It sounded absolutely "digital" and artificial by comparison.
