I do not have any experience with the 2.1x but I replace all the caps on my DAC 1.2 digital board with black Gates. This is a nice improvement, but as usual, sometimes improvements are made in small incraments.
On the 1.2 digital board I replace the 12 volt input supply caps with 100uF type N Black Gates in parallel. The N type have a long lead and a short lead. I soldered one cap on top of the board, and the a second cap under the board in parallel with the top cap. Solder the long leg of the top cap to the short leg of the cap under the board. This is refered to as "Super E configuration cancellation mode".
I replace all the caps in the 5 volt section, around the chips of the 1.2 board. I pulled all the stock caps out, replace them with 6.3v HiQ NX type @ 47uf. They were installed in the same mannor as above... in parallel, long leg to short leg, shot leg to long.SEE LINK:
