Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

it was a good unit

Heard one in 86. Nearly bought it. A little warmer than the 4140 which was a slightly more powerful unit w/o tone controls but mc/mm.

Reviews in Absolute sound (when it had a lot more followers) were positive and one reviewer, not w/o controversy rated it ahead of Audiolab 8000, Mission Cyrus II w/ Cyrus II power supply, Creek 4140, and the Naim Nait I, which was its closest competition.

After hearing the Nait, I went for it and have never regretted it since. The DINS are not really a problem.

If you are considering buying one, it would depend on the price. I think that its market would be below all the amps listed, and it might constitute a bargain.
