My friend went on a similar path in search of tonal qualities, but in the end he went back to high-power push-pull amps for the dynamics.
If your monicker means anything, you'd be better off with high dynamics. I can tell you that he went as far as trying large 104 dB horns, but the low power SET amps just couldn't do it for him.
Personally, I go for tone, but I recognize and accept the trade-off!
