Ok, I want some opinions on the best sounding brand of 12AU7 to be used in a preamp? So far my favorite is an RCA clear top side getter.
I just put a pair of NOS Bugle Boys in my Rogue 66. Man What A Difference!
I reccomend them. beware tho' The new stock are CRAP!
...the Amperex Holland Bugle Boy 12AU7 (short plate). I too like the clear top, but the Amperex is a bit richer and a bit more vibrant than that tube...Joe
Where did you find the cleartops if its not a secret???Thank you very much in advance,
YM
I got my RCA cleartops from Empire Electronics in Pasadena Ca.
Ask for Les.
Steve
I have RCA clear tops.Very good. But are the Amprex 7316 (12au7) that much better?(I have never tried them before.)Any input.
First: Read Joe's tube lore.I'll add my 2¢ and recommend the RCA Black Plate 6189.
