... you ought to be considering either a 45 amp or a one-stager 6S45P amp. I use both with my Hedlunds and have a preference for the one-stager. With the even greater efficiency Orises you don't really need more than a watt or so and this frees you to explore purity rather than power for your mid/highs.Brian.

What is a good source for those 6C45 tubes?
Hello Jose ,
I have built such an one stage amp with a E 55 L in triode mode , input with old studio transformers 1:2 , gridstopper , the tube , cathode resistor and output transformer , thats all . Look at the italian websites under www.paeng.it .
Regards , AlexK.
Alex,I found the PAEng website, but there is no mention of the E55L tube. Do you have any more information, I am curious?

Hello Jose ,
go to devices , then to high u Tubes and then open part 1 on the paeng website . There is a list of possible tubes for this amps like EC 8020 , 3A167M , WE 437 and E55L in pseudotriode mode . I have done this with 60 ohm cathode resistor bypassed with 1000 uF and 140 volt plate voltage , then I have 55 mA current . I made this with a regulated power supply and it sounds amazing . The most simple "power" amp , I īve ever built . No hiss , no hum and no oszillation , I have used grid stoppers , ferrite beads and very short wires .
Regards , AlexK.
KWtubes can supply them . Make sure you buy a fair quantity , there seems to be a lot of variation
:)
