Claude,Good to see you back in the saddle. It sounds as though you are committed to the project you described. I would only suggest that you consider the transformer output mod and be done with op-amps altogether. I am using Jensen transformers and basically have not even considered another mod to the DI/O. The PS is now routed through one schottky, has one big Black Gate and LM 1086 VR - everyting else is gone. I'll post photos @ DIOmods site.
Happy soldering,
Follow Ups:
Hi John,I followed your works on the passive outputstage. Really excellent, not much to add! (no active part, soft filter, nice philosophy - less but better parts, etc...)
I went another route mainly because I need a solid output stage to drive my passive preamp. Even if a 100k load might be driven by good output transformers...
As the result is great, and beyond what I ever listen to, I must say I am a bit shy on tweaking again / trying other solutions at the output stage. I prefer spending some time listening, and, you know, if it ain't broken... (soldering again and again has it limits I guess!)
But, again, your alternative is great. Maybe more on my direct mail, as I don't log in very often?
Bye
