Hi, a have a creek OBH8-SE phono stage. I've already replaced the stock AC power cable to the out board power supply with a Supra cable with good results. So, of course these things get the better of you and i start wondering about the DC supply cable from the power supply to the actual phono stage. It's just a diddy little multi strand figure of 8 wire. Could a do anything to improve it ? Twist it, shield it, replace it ? Do the same values apply to low voltage ( i think it's 12DC ) as they do to high voltage AC ?Many thanks,

Yes. I have a 13.8VDC system in my bedroom that has shown sensitivity to DC power umbilical wiring. I recommend that you look on eBay for 16 AWG mil-spec Teflon insulated silver plated copper wire and use a twisted pair of it for your DC umbilicals. I suggest you cover the cable with small diameter Techflex sleeving. Use HQ connectors on it since DC is very sensitive to the conductivity of connectors as I have found. Revelation Audio Labs makes a fine DC cable but it's not inexpensive.
Duster,Can you explain why you use silver plated copper wire for your DC supply ... why would this be better than, say, plain-Cu wire?
So far, I've use 30-amp automotive hookup wire for my DC supplies - it's at least 13awg and built to take high currents at low voltages. And it's cheap!

It simply sounds better to my ear than an equivalent gauge PVC insulated bare copper conductor. As for the use of larger than 16 AWG wire (18 AWG or even 20 AWG would have been fine) for a *very low current* DC device, I don't think there would be any benefit and perhaps some unnecessary self inductance involved, dunno. As for my bedroom system's high(er) current needs, my DC powered Spectron amplifiers (feed by an Astron RS-12A, 9 amp max power suppy), I'll be installing a twisted pair of 10 AWG mil-spec Teflon insulated silver plated copper wire to replace the 10 AWG bare copper/PVC automotive power wire I'm using at the moment (which also can't hold a decent twist like SPC/Teflon wire can). Sorry I can't provide a comment about the results of that upcoming swap at this time.

Good advice. I made DIY DC cable using exactly that, 16 AWG (may be 14) teflon coated silver-plated copper wire, from surplus store. I usually don't like this type of wire in AC or usual applications, but this one is realy Kickin' good in DC applications.
A ferrite noise blocker, while problematic when used on some AC power cord applications, seems to do only good for DC cables. Clamping one bead at the load end of the DC cable lowers the noise floor and improves listening cues without squashing the presentation like an AC application of it often does, IMHO.
