Hello all-I have a Jolida 502A int. amp driving a pair of Meadowlark Shearwater Hot Rods. Is it possible to incorporate an Accuphase P-300 power amp? The speakers are bi-wireable, and I'd like to use the big SS Accuphase to drive the bottom half and the Jolida to drive the top half. How can I do this without having a pre-out on the Jolida? Thank you-Rich

The bottom line is that you should contact JoLida directly or an outfit like Response Audio that specializes in JoLida mods. They can tell you what your options are. Both are easy to find on the web. I took my JoLida 801a to the HQ near Annapolis and they added tape outs for a very acceptable price (it was either $50 for both of $50 each plug; I'm embarassed to say I don't remember which...).

Have you contacted your JoLida dealer or the factory about having preamp outputs installed? I don't think the cost would be prohibitive.
Is a pre-out the answer ? If I go that route won't the signal simply be passed to the power amp and then to the speakers? That doesn't seem to be the same as bi-amping.
The term might best be "sub out" as there would be an internal signal split included in the modification. You will have power available at the Jolida output terminals and level control of both the Jolida and the preouts (the accuphase) at the same time. It is a better but more expensive solution to use the Joilda as a second power amp and add a preamp to control both. There are a lot of advantages to that. The Jolidas are basically power amps with a couple of switches slapped on, so it's not a difficult thing to rig and has no real issues.
