When I worked on my MR67 the biggest improvement in sound came by replacing the lytic caps under the chassis with film/foil or metallized types. Whatever I had on hand. If I remember correctly there's a couple of caps hidden under one of the front panel controls.
Just a thought rather than going the tube rolling route in a tuner.
