Re: Sub for Spica50

Well, its not small but I think it would be a nice match for Spica TC-50's: It would be the older mid to late 80's PSB Subwoofer 1 passive unit (it's a stereo sub with 2 long-throw 8" drivers in individual chambers, vented, 4ohm, transparent 6db per octave high pass crossover at 100hz. I own one now with Von Schweikert VR-1's. Used to own the tc-50's myself (wish I hadn't sold them-I would have liked to try the PSB with them. This PSB sub is unfortunately large (22" square) but it is a very musical subwoofer. A newer powered sub that will sound better with music will cost over $1000.00 or more I think. It doesn't play loud but its sensitivty at 88db would be an interesting match to the Spica's. Should be able to find one of these subs used for <$200!. (originally around $700 new) Extremely high value solution in my opinion if you have adequate power into 4ohms and can live with its size. It needs 100w+ to sound its best.
Good luck.
