for the radius 5

I've had this table for about 4 months now, so it's time for a brief reveiw. I'd taken a chance replacing my beloved planar 25 for this all acrylic deck, and so far all is well. The radius 5 is definitely more difficult to set up as there is provision to adjust all cart. angles, but after reading the manual a few times it became a piece of cake. I was also a bit concerned that a unipivot arm may sound a bit sloppy, but I was wrong. The sound is tight and controlled, noticably more so than the rega - that and it's more dynamic presentation, leaves detail in greater relief; a definite plus. I personaly like to use an Extreme phono mat with mine, which seems to take off any residual edge from an acrylic platter; we're talking very slight differences here. I suppose one could use a clamp here, but I can't stand the idea of using a clamp, as I like to flip vinyl while the platter is spinning. So the sound is quite good, but there is some issues of stylus jump when you walk accross a suspended floor - the Rega never did this and it seems to be common among tables with suspended plinths, which in this case does it's intended job of isolating the motor noise from the platter /tomearm. All in all a pretty good value here for a compact deck that delivers the sonic goodies.

Product Weakness: finish could be better; can see scratches at certain angles. Should be wall mounted to avoid floor bounce.
Product Strengths: a well engineered deck ,good p.r.a.t, dynamic, and a quiet ride.
