i have had an axis (basik arm) for seven years. love it! feel the same as the reviewer, it's not a super high end unit, but musical, listenable, doesn't require a lot of tweaks -- have it sitting on a piece of marble, over levelled mdf, styrofoam layer in there .... just keeps on truckin.' some have stated the opinion it calls for a mm cartridge. i have used mm and mc, tend to agree. now using one of the cheaper grados. makes for some very enjoyable listening, especially as i paid 300 for it, 40 for the cartridge at a clearance. had the denon 160 on there for a coupla years, was ok but perhaps not at its best on this table. note that i tried aq sorbothane mat, prefer the stock felt. cheers.
