Ever since I first saw one of these babies in a high-end salon, almost 10 years ago, I've wanted one. I like the tradional looks and wonderful reputation. But, I didn't want to spend the "big bucks" for the price of admission just to occasionally listen to FM. Even used, these tuners are relatively pricey. Well, now that the FT-101A is discontiued, I figured now or never. I picked up a "personal" unit from a local dealer who I've done quite a lot of business with over the years. He let me try it out...if I liked it he'd make me a deal. I compared it to my favorite tuner, Kinergetics KBT-2 (one of the best sounding tuners I've heard) and an SAE 8000. The Magnum Dyna sounded just as musical and dimensional as the kinergetics (a tough feat to match), but, incredibly, the Magnum pulled in between 2 and 3 times as many stations using the same antenna. I was shocked! Suffice it to say, I made a deal with the dealer that evening. I know that in general FM tuners aren't really that popular these days, but I'll tell you, I'm happy!
