I purchased this tape deck along with my Lux receiver back in 1989.This was Luxman's bottom line deck($450 bucks) but man it just made tapes sound so much better than some Onkyo I had at the time.I really used the hell out of it up till around 1998.Occasionally,I pop in some of my cherished and very old high bias compilation tapes that have vinyl, radio, and cd recordings.Amazing that this format is now beyond being antiquated ! The vinyl recordings sound absolutely the best and the turntable I had at the time was a POS Radio Shack linear tracking model. I honestly forgot just how good these tapes sound and in many respects rivaled plenty of cd recordings. At least this tape deck did that for me ! I remember back then when I bought cd's and then immediately recorded my favorite tunes to tape and it sounded so much better ! I had budget hi fidelity that was superior to many other brands. This model cleaned up many nasties in recordings and really smoothed out the sound.I still have the deck, never needed repairs, and still works like a charm ! Real shame technology is holding this very tried and true format in the dust.I occasionally see this model on E-Bay for next to nothing.I have old BASF,MAXELL,AND TDK super avilyn cassettes that are 20 years old and still play fine.

Product Weakness: no longer sold in the states
Product Strengths: made excellent recordings and playback awesome
