for the overture 2's (2006 model)

I purchased the Zingali overture 2's to replace some big Kef 107/2s and my move to all tube reproduction.

The design of the speakers, hand made by craftsmen in a small Italian company, merging electronic technology with remarkable furniture makers and craftsmen is quite unusual.

For the money, you get a heavy and solidly built case, with 45mm thick wood face and back plates. The front sports a large 8inch patented omniray horn loaded behind a superbly smooth fluted cone, and above a 210mm bass unit, with fine mesh grill inside.

The speakers are designed for floor stands, which are an optional add-on in matching wood trim. For the purpose of the test, I have mine mounted on very solid stainless steel wall mounts at ear level (horn) height.

The speakers are specifically designed with tube amps in mind, and present an easy load with 90-91 db efficiency, at least.

From the first hook up, I was struck by the impact of the sound with the use of the horn unit. Very sensitive to low level details and excelling on vocals and piano, they also stand out with Jazz and orchestral in particular.

The following 2 weeks I listened to just about all type of music at low to very high levels, and found the listening experience extremely rewarding and absolutely free from grain, edge or long term fatique, even from CD's. A remarkable achievement!

I would recommend these speakers (or any of the range from Zingali, some of which I have also heard) to anyone wanting both the highest quality reproduction at good sound levels and at an affordable price. Plus you will love the looks and build quality!

Product Weakness: Bit expensive, but get them home and you will see why, the build quality is brilliant.
Product Strengths: Amazing realism, subtle, smooth, tube friendly - the perfect match for SET's!
