for the MCL-3
Ryan Acoustic MCL-3, very unique design and certainly very unique sound. Has just about everything you would expect from a good speaker. This speaker is undoubtedly worthy of saying audiophile speakers. For under a $1000 price range in the used market hard to beat let alone to find one for sale. They are becoming harder to find. They have a small foot print with an enormous sound stage. These speakers may not be for beginners, they require critical placement and amplification.
Very musical speakers, thats the first thing comes to my head. I find them warm and very detailed resulting a super sweet sound. Its got very good body to sound and fine tight bass. Acoustic Supended bass has always been my favourite. Midrange blends very well with the highs and lows seemlessly, I have my system bi-amped. I have found some speakers dont agree to bi-amping configuration. Highs and mids are surpricing nuetral and airy with good definition and depth on the instruments and vocals and then it blends perfectly with the lows which projects a superb mid bass. Madona's Ray of Light was over-welming, Bed time stories had very articulate presentation, David Gray's white ladder was CD I couldn't eject track one was simply stunning. Overall sound stage is extended resulting a very good 3 demential imaging. You feel the layers, inner details, shading, micro-shading, depth of the bass and vocals. If your source is capable MCL-3 will Deliver. I find the bass plenty and I find highs and mids extremely well balanced, and the colabaration of the frequencies to be utterly good compared to many speaker even at three times its price.
Bad news is the placement and good family of components, most importantly know what your doing. I find the speakers to be on the warmer side so I cant say they are 100% natural, a good pre-amp and cabling might be able to solve this problem.
Product Weakness: Lacks extreme lows. Might need a good subwoofer depending on the room size. Product Strengths: Very sweet Mids and highs, emotional. Good tight bass and excellent mid bass. Very well balanced and 3 dementional sound stage.
