for the 9 Kappa Reference Standard

The 9 Kappas I own have been with me ten years and two houses. They need an impressive ammount of power and the load they pose to the amp is very difficult so you need REALLY huge amps to drive them.
I have tried STASIS 220Wamps, NAKAMICHI PA7E 220W amps, KRELL 200W and also an assorted variety of power amps that protected as soon as the kappas where producing more or less 110db.
Finally I decided to biamp them with a CARVER M1,5t 375W for the BASS and the PA7 for the HIGHS.
NOW THEY SING !!!!

I have compared them with some units (B&W Nautilus 805 and TANNOY TD10) in my own room and even while they definitely sound different I prefer the Infinity's dynamics and power.

I will be testing with active crossovers this year.

As I hear a lot of dance and house music I had a FULL JBL Sound reinforcement system with 12inch mids plus 2inch BIRADIAL HORNS and a BIG, BIG 2x12 TCB sub. All with an active threeway ECLER crossover and CROWN amps.

On my new house I have kept the sub and use the 9 Kappas as MID/HIGHS, I only miss a little more SPL as the Infinities don't get past 120db easily BUT I get more precision and a overall better sound when hearing House msic with the JBL sub.

Product Weakness: low sensivity, difficult load for power amps, bass a little thin
Product Strengths: dynamics, awesome power, style and quality of construction
