for the A'Diva
New larger Gallo ball. 5" sphere, full range (?) 76HZ to 20KHZ, 88db, 8 ohms. Bought one of the first sold as a center channel speaker. Sits on the elevated base of my Sony 60" LCD RPTV, 24" off the floor. Looks like the venerable 8 Ball sitting on a little O ring. Connected by it's supplied small guage solid core speaker wire to a little Parasound Zamp. It integrates very nicely with my Aerail 7b fronts and 5 rears. Using an Outlaw 950 pre/pro which sends left and right front info to the A'Diva on music and most of the dialog in movies as well, excellent in that regard as well as for multichannel SACD music. 5 of these 8 balls on the optional stands would make a very nice HT system but I would still add a sub even though Gallo is advertising the A'Diva's as not needing one. 76HZ is a long way from the bottom and they won't pump like a sub for LFE's. Very pleasing sound out of these orbs. Not congested at all but slightly beamy. I adjusted the A'Diva in it's O ring stand slightly tilted up to make dialog sound exactly as if it is coming out of the screen of the TV.
Have not really rung this thing out on it's own as I immediately inseted it into my cobbled together HT system. I had wanted to do a totally seperate HT system built around my new 60" LCD RPTV but I got vetoed by the wife. My intent was to get one of the new Sony ES DVD/SACD/5.1 receivers and either the Gallo Micro or A'Divas (X 5) and be done with the HT system. As it stands, I integrated the HDTV into my 2CH listening room. Went horizontal on the racks. Bought a used pair of Aerial 5's for rears to match my 7b fronts. Bought an Outlaw 950 pre/pro. Had an Adcom 5400 that I tried to sell that I stuck in for the rears. Can't beat 125 watts of clean amplification for $300. the Gallo A'Diva and used Zamp and I was in 5 channel business. No sub yet but eventually. the Aerial 7b's go pretty low and I'm not sure I want to be thumped in the chest every time a car door slams in a movie.
In summary, the little A'Diva sounds great, integrates well, has good WAF and I would definetly consider a top contender for me to be the speaker for a nice little HT set up. Coupled with a good sub that goes up to 150HZ, they would be hard to beat, if not a little pricey. I would imagine that you could by 5 of the A'Divas for around $1000 with a little haggling. Roundsound, it's a whole nuther world.
Product Weakness: A little spendy and little beamy Product Strengths: Small, unobtrusive, high WAF, integrates well with speakers costing thousands more, full range sound
