It is truly amazing as to how many varying opinions there are when it comes to speakers. I understand that it is a very subjective area (as if other components weren't). However, when it came time to replace my old speakers, it was a mountain of a mission. I am fortunate to have quite a few dealers close by. This afforded me the option of hearing many of the mid-fi priced speakers in my price range ($2,000 - $3,000). Well to make a long story even longer, I narrowed my choice down to the Nautilus 805 and the Linn 40's. The comparison actually became easier for me as time went on. Every time I would go back and listen to the two, I would hear something new from the 805's. For me, the 805's were the "clear" winner. Great speaker for the money. Oh, let me not forget, I do not recommend buying these speakers if you do not intend on buying the stands ($600.00) The stands are essential for these speakers.
