for the 602 Series 3

I have been looking on upgrading my speakers a couple of years ago and decided to wait. I have an old Infinity speakers that uses the emit tweeter (ribbon) and had them since 1989. I forgot the model but the cabinets are real nice because the sides are grooved and it's made of solid oak. It's a 3 way driver and just a tad bigger than the B&W that is being reviewed here. When I auditioned the B&W 602 s2 last year I was not really impressed on the way it sounded. I had my eyes on the CDMnt instead but it's quite a lot of $. To make the story short I auditioned quite a few speakers out there (PSB,Tannoy,Klipsch RB3,Paradigm,etc). My purpose for the new speakers is for HT and Stereo listening for now. When I started searching on the internet on speaker reviews the B&W 601 s3 and 602 s3 popped out. I started reading and went to my favorite dealer and auditioned them. I walked out with a pair that same day which is my birthday. Actually, I walked out with a pair and a half with the 1cr60 center channel. I've had the speaker for about a week now and can't get away from them. I started listening to all my cd's again and heard thing I've never knew where there. I was listening to Stan Getz cd (stereo mode)with a lot of zymbals going on and you can even tell where the zymbals are getting hit with the drum sticks. When Astrud started to sing I thought I had the center channel on so I actually have to put my ears on the LCR60 to make sure it's off and I am listening on stereo mode. Amazing! On movies it shines real nice especially on DTS and THX materials. My dealer told me that if I want more base I need to get the floor stander or subwoofer for movie watching. Good thing they have a 1 year upgrade policy and I will actually go there today to audition the 600 series floorstander. Hmmm! These speakers will sound somewhat bright at first but after a while you'll notice that it's actaully a pretty detailed speakers. As far as base it's moderate for stereo listening but you might want to add a subwoofer for HT application. Also, you have to feed it with a nice amp so you can get the most out of them.

Product Weakness: None so far
Product Strengths: Very detailed speakers, soundstage is nice and center, nicely designed and engineered, bass is not bad at all
