for the 100

1977 model.....made in Rhode Island, USA.
Very good build quality and heft (25 pounds).
2-way acoustic suspension, with 8" CTS alnico woofer with rubber surround & CTS phenolic ring tweeter, rear terminal spring clamps, and tweeter level control.
56-16.5Khz +/- 3db.....A Consumer Reports "Best Buy."
Very much in the New England speaker camp ala AR/Advent/EPI/KLH.
Of all the NE-sound speakers, the Avid 100 has the most forward mid-range IMO.
Tight bass down to below 50hz, slightly forward mid-range, good but rolled -off treble response.
All-in-all, a very good well-rounded speakers....comfortable with all types of music.

Product Weakness: Slightly rolled-off treble response IMO.
Rear terminal spring clamps.
Product Strengths: Very good build quality.
Extremely flat frequency response...as measured by CR.
