for the AVinci Three Monitor
My impression of the Acoustic Reality AVinci Three Monitor:I have had these speakers in my system for about 2 weeks and Peter had them burned in for about 50hrs before I received them. I have only put on an additional 20 hrs so far as I have been busy with work.
First off I do not pretend to have lots of experience with various types of speakers. I will just give you my impression.
Fit and finish: For the price I would have to say these are average. The cabinet is made MDF - 22mm baffle and 19mm sides. It is put together neatly and the cabinet is reasonably solid. For the price it is good and resembles the cabinet of the Dynaudio Contour 1.3.
Bass: Although I feel this area needs more break-in time, for the size of the speaker it goes very low but its just a little sloppy right now but has tightened up since I have had them and it should continue to get better. We shall see.
Midrange: I am a vocal fanatic and used to play drums. The vocals come at you very large not forward but are so natural its very enjoyable and so revealing. Percussion has the punch when given and also sounds natural you can sense how tight they have them tuned, and how naturally resonate they are. Piano is exceptional I wish I had the words to describe it. The sense of emotion from the piano player comes through.
Treble: The XT25TG30 ring radiator tweeter from Vifa is very revealing but Peter of Acoustic Reality through his crossover design has kept the revealing nature but at the same time its smooth with no fatigue which is a surprise considering my associated equipment. Cymbals are natural sounding as you can tell where on the cymbal the drummer is playing it. I will not comment further on the crossover design, as I don’t have a clue on its merits I just know these speakers sound right to me.
Soundstage depth and width are huge. The walls disappear and the layering is very evident.
Overall sound is very enjoyable. It’s a massive upgrade from my Monitor Audio Silver 5i's that I sold to get these. I was looking for more refinement and I got it. Its still very dynamic but music is just so much more fun to listen to know as Peter has somehow this speaker to give some of the poorer recorded material a little bit smoother sound while increasing the better recorded music by leaps and bounds.
My associated equipment is:
B&K AVR202 Receiver
Acoustic Reality AVinci Three Monitor
HSU VTF-2
Pioneer DVD modded by Stan Warren
Cables Oval 9's
Interconnect Silver MagicMusical Tastes vary greatly:
On these speaker I have listened to Lyle Mays, Louis Armstrong
Aimee Mann, Bruckner, Rush, and others.Hope this helps some. I little information is better than none.
Product Weakness: Bass a little sloppy but hopefully will correct itself with more break-in time. Product Strengths: Value, creates beautiful sound
