for the AE-3

Had the ae3 for about 3 months (built from kit)

Although this pre has a good overall sound with decent frequency extention, I found that there was some noise/hum issues that couldn't be resolved. Me thinks the close prox. of the tranny has much to do with this.

My latest edition to my system is the MAD ultra 4a preamp with phono input.

This two box affair with separate power sply is a better all around pre with a sweeter mid/hi and a richer presentation, and above all - quieter, and damn good sound for the money.

Product Weakness: A bit of noise/ hum at lower volumes.
Product Strengths: Has a pleasant tubey sound and decent price.
