for the AT440ML

I agree with most of what joe blow says about this cart. This is amazing performance for the $89 bucks I paid ("list" is $220). If I had to sumarize the sound of the 440ml I'd say it has close to moving coil speed, detail and imaging with some moving magnet warmth. Not to say its warm relative to other moving magnets (for example the 71E I reviewed elsewhere). The 440ML is more neutral compared to that cartridge and is a much better tracker. It was a bit difficult to mount in a rega 3 table, but other than that, this is a winner. There are some who did'nt like the 440ML at all, but I guess it comes down to whether it works in your system, it can be light in the bass, it probably won't sound right if you are used to a warm MM like Grado or Shure, and I imagine also bright if your amp tends towards bright. It isn'nt really bright in my system. I've used MC cartridges that cost several hundred dollars, and the 440ML still impreses me. You'd have to spend a LOT more to outdo it, and it stomps anything else at its current "sale" pricing. Good sound coupled with the technology of a micro line stylus and continuous cast copper innards is hard to come by at this price.

Product Weakness: can be difficult to mount
Product Strengths: excellent value and performance
