for the HD-650
I auditioned a bunch of cans, including Sennheiser 580s and 600s, before buying the 650s.I'll make this short and sweet: To my ear, nothing but exotic, thousand-dollar headphones can touch them. They have a much more silky and liquid presentation than any Grado I've owned and are never harsh, which most Grados tend to be, in my view.
Now that these have been out awhile, you can get a fair deal on them. And if you find the price a little steep, the 600 is still an excellent headphone. It's now much cheaper thanks to the 650.
Very highly recommended for all kinds of music. I drive mine with a Musical Fidelity X-Can V3. It's a match made in heaven. Female vocals will give you chills.
Product Weakness: None whatsoever. Product Strengths: Liquid, smooth sound. Very well-defined across the frequency spectrum. Never harsh. Very comfortable for bigger phones.
