These cans make you feel like you are one of the musician's up on stage. This is the soundstage effect you get to one degree or another with most headphones because the soundstage is somewhat miniaturized compared to speakers - your cranium is literally the auditorium. But with the Grados the sound quality is so warm and intimate I really feel I am transcending the normal headphone experience and am actually looking down on the guitar that is being played in my hands or into the piano-hammers striking the wires. The sense of palpable air can almost be described as humid. There is an uncanny sense of echo produced in these large,satin-finished aluminum sound-chambers that seems to bely the physical confines imposed. If you have always wanted to feel like musicians might on the live stage, hearing how they might hear, look no further. The entire audio-spectrum is presented in perfect balance and the bass is meaty. Grado's best buy in my opinion.
