I purchased the A1-10 for use as a CD player. Based on articles I have read I thought it would be a damn good one especially since J&R music is selling them for 389.00 shipped (retail 1200.00)!! I was right for the money it is the best you can buy for the price. I have audition a few 1k+ units and loved the sound but could not bring myself to hand over my Amex card. However since technics has discounted the unit I thought I would give it a try. I have spent some time listening to the 4k+ Sony SACD using std CD's and loved the almost lp like smoothness. The A10 comes awfully close to the SACD (turn off the remastering switch and engage the audio only switch). Now whether DVD/Audio is better than SACD I cannot say my interest in the unit was strictly as a 2 channel CD player with the DVD capability as icing on the cake. I am enjoying and discovering new things about the hundreds of CD's in my collection. The A10 replaced a Teac PDH-500 a good unit also.
