for the P-3A

i recently purchased the perpetual technologies p3a dac from underwoodwally thru the audiogon internet site (walter was great to deal with). i had been looking for some time to add an external dac as i thought this was the weak link in my system, even though my cd player had been previously modified.

i've had the p3a dac for some 2 months and am now confident they are fully broken in. the original sound wasn't that bad, but after running the dac in, the sound improved. i have extensively listened to the bel canto dac 1 and agree with some comments that i have read, great inner detail and transparency but the top end is rolled off and is a bit smooth (this dac will suit other systems compared to mine).

the p3a is a bit more sharper in the top end which suited my system better, it has great transparency and i believe the sound is now more fluid. the difference between my cd player and using the p3a is that the sound is more accurate and is less hifi.

this is a great product from perpetual technologies and i am eagerly saving my money to buy the p1a.

regards

Product Weakness: the power supply which can of course be upgraded
Product Strengths: the cost, sound quality and service from perpetual technologies, future upgrade with p1a
